According to the Atlanta REALTORS (ARA) Market Brief for April 2018, metro Atlanta single-family home buyers are struggling with low inventory at higher prices compared to this time last year.
Although there are favorable economic conditions for buyers, there is less inventory available. Since 2017 there has been an 11.0% decrease in listings, although a slight 2.3% increase has been seen since last month.
Along with the drop in inventory, there has been an increase in price with the median ($274,000) and average ($333,000) sales price both higher than last year. The median sales price saw an 8.7% increase with average prices up 5.7%.
Even with these conditions, overall residential housing sales are on the rise since April of 2017. Total sales for the month came to 4,965, which is up 1.8% from last year’s total. Want tips to find off-market housing? Contact us today!
