As we approach the end of 2018 and the holiday season is upon us, it’s time for Keller Knapp Realty’s 2018 Giving Back Campaign. This year, our campaign will include a drive for donations to benefit Community Friendship, one of Atlanta’s most respected non-profit organizations caring for those who are homeless due to mental illness.
Community Friendship, Inc (CFI) is a non-profit psychiatric rehabilitation organization that ensures a supportive community for adults with long-erm psychiatric disabilities so that they can develop loving, learning, working and social skills and access the resources needed to lead successful and satisfying lives. CFI is much more than just a shelter…the organization has a well-deserved reputation for helping those suffering from mental illness to gain the skills and resources needed to find employment and a stable life.
Originating in 1962 as a drop-in social center for adults with chronic mental illnesses, CFI incoporated in 1970, and has grown to offer a comprehensive array of services in teh psychiatric rehabilitation approach. CFI provides services, which promote recover and assist consumers in establishing and maintaining productive lives in the community. For over 50 years, Community Friendship has been committed to supporting an individual’s recovery from mental illness, so that each person can lead a contributing, integrated and self-directed life.
Each year, in November, CFI collects toiletries and creates care packages for those in the CFI programs. Keller Knapp Realty agents and staff will participate in a Toiletries Drive during November, with a goal to raise $1,000 to purchase toiletries for the care packages. And, we’ll be stuffing the care packages in December!
In addition, gently used clothing items are always needed at CFI — everyday clothing, as well as attire for interviews and work. Coats and shoes are especially needed. During December, Keller Knapp offices around Atlanta will be a drop-off site for our Clothing Drive! Our goal is to collect 4 overflowing boxes of items to deliver to CFI.
